To do this, you will need your license number and the latest version of the installation file, which you can download here:
https://www.corporate.be/corporatedesk/NL/setup.zip (Dutch version)
or
https://www.corporate.be/corporatedesk/NL/setup.zip (French version)
Important: Do not forget to make a backup of your data before performing any operations!
A. Where to find your data? Where to find your database?
- Open Corporate Desk on your current computer.
- Go to the menu File. (Bestand, Fichier) → Actieve Databank (Active Database)
You will see the path to your current database. In our example, the database is located on drive X:. Your location will of course be different.
B. Moving / Redirecting your data: Make a backup of your database OR change the path to the database
Option 1: Your current database is located on your local PC
- Open Corporate Desk on your current computer.
- Go to the menu File → Full backup of the data.
- In the next screen, choose a location and a file
name (e.g. your_name.BKI) to save your database backup.
- Transfer the .BKI backup file to your new computer using a USB drive, the network, or any other method commonly used in your company.
- Once Corporate Desk is installed on the new computer, open the program. The main screen will be empty. This is normal, as a blank database is created during installation.
- Go to the menu File → Import from an external database.
• Maak uw keuze:
=>
Database in an accessible directory (see below)
=>
Database in a zip file (if your database was
zipped)
=>
In our example, we choose the third option
to restore the backup file from your old computer.
Note: Also select “Original user (…)" to restore all settings and characteristics from your previous computer. If you choose “Current user”, the import will be based on the settings of the new computer.
The program will then ask you to locate your .BKI file. Click OK once you have selected it.
- After the procedure is completed, the main screen will display all the data that was present on your previous computer.
Option 2: Your current database is located somewhere other than your local PC (e.g. on the network)
Although we always recommend making a backup first, in this case you can simply change the path to your database from the new computer. This method is most suitable for network configurations with multiple users, where it is not advisable to move the actual database files.
In Option 2, you have two ways to change the database path:
2.1 From within Corporate Desk
The procedure is very similar to the one described above, except that you choose to change the path instead of importing a saved database. Important: Perform this on the newly installed PC.
Go to File → Import from an external database.
- Make your choice:
- ⇒ Database in an accessible directory
- ⇒ Database in a zip file
- ⇒ In our example, choose the third option to restore the backup from the old computer.
Note: Select “Original user (…)" to restore all previous settings. If you select “Current user”, the import will use the new computer’s settings.
Then select the folder where your database is located.
If you cannot find the folder or the exact path, you can use the Corporate Desk Control Panel.
To access it:
- Close Corporate Desk on all workstations.
- Launch the Corporate Desk Control Panel (shortcut on your desktop, or run it from any installed workstation).
Or directly via Windows: C:\Program Files (x86)\Corporate\CorporateDesk\Bin\CorporateDeskControlPanel.exe
- Choose the icon “Database Management”.
- In the next screen, enter the new path to your database.
Kies het pictogram "Beheer van de database" en voer in het volgende scherm je DB-pad in.
Final result Whichever solution you choose, you should obtain the same outcome: after the operation, the main screen of Corporate Desk should display all the data you previously saw on your old computer.
